Mining Companies

Mining has shaped Zambia's economy for generations — and Kokeb Enterprises has built its core capabilities around the demanding standards that major mining operations require. Our Solwezi base positions us at the epicentre of Zambia's copper and cobalt growth corridor.

The mining sector is our most significant client sector. From our base in Solwezi — heart of Zambia's copper growth corridor — we are ideally positioned to serve mining operations across Northwestern Province, the Copperbelt, and beyond. We understand how mines operate: the safety standards, the programme pressures, the consequence of delays, and the technical quality expected.

Mining Clients We Have Served

Kansanshi Minerals Limited (subsidiary of First Quantum Minerals) — Commissioned Kokeb for the landmark Philip Pascall Theatre and Chapel at Trident College, Solwezi — a prestigious institutional building delivered to world-class standards and handed over in October 2022 at a ceremony attended by the First Quantum Minerals Chairman and Zambia's Minister of Commerce.

Mining Support Infrastructure — Kokeb has delivered workshops, maintenance facilities, heavy equipment service bays, access roads, plant slabs, and support buildings across the Kansanshi and Kalumbila mining regions in Northwestern Province — serving both direct mining operators and their Tier 1 contractors.

What Mining Clients Need from Us

  • Demonstrable SHEQ capability and full alignment with mining safety management systems
  • Reliable mobilisation into remote and logistically difficult locations
  • NCC Grade I certification for Electrical and Mechanical works
  • Multi-disciplinary capability — civil, building, electrical, mechanical, and geomatics
  • Capacity to scale quickly for major shutdown and capital construction packages
  • Transparent project management and regular reporting to client standards
  • Local Zambian workforce and local procurement commitment

Types of Mining Infrastructure Delivered

We deliver infrastructure across the full mining project life cycle — from greenfield development through operations. This includes: access road construction, process plant civil works, workshops and service facilities, heavy equipment bays, accommodation camp construction, hardstands, plant slabs, and operational support buildings.

Our SHEQ Alignment

Major mining clients operate world-class safety management systems. Kokeb's SHEQ management system is designed to integrate with client systems — including site-specific induction requirements, permit-to-work systems, incident reporting protocols, and behavioural safety expectations. We do not simply comply — we share and genuinely believe in the same safety values our mining clients hold.

International Corporations

Multinational companies investing in Zambia need a local partner they can trust — one who understands the Zambian operating environment, speaks the same professional language, and delivers to international standards. Kokeb has served international corporations from the UK, Asia, Europe, and beyond.

100+km Road Programme
2022FQM Theatre Handover

International corporations are increasingly seeking locally-owned, capable contractors in Zambia — driven by local content requirements, supply chain localisation commitments, and a genuine recognition that local partners deliver better local outcomes than imported contractors who have to learn the environment from scratch.

International Clients We Have Served

British American Tobacco (BAT) — USD 8.5 million factory and headquarters delivered in January 2020 under a compressed, 24-hour work cycle programme. BAT's stringent international corporate standards for construction, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works were fully met — to the client's total satisfaction.

China State Engineering and Construction Limited — Partnership on the Solwezi–Kipushi road programme, delivering hundreds of kilometres of road opening, grading, and upgrading across Northwestern Province. A major international programme partnership that demonstrated Kokeb's ability to work at scale alongside international principal contractors.

First Quantum Minerals / Kansanshi Minerals Limited — Construction of the Philip Pascall Theatre and Chapel at Trident College, Solwezi — commissioned by Kansanshi Minerals Limited for one of the most prestigious educational facilities in Northwestern Province. FQM is one of the world's major copper producers and one of the most significant investors in Zambia.
